Geoffrey Gorman

Geoffrey Gorman was born in Europe, and studied studio art at the Maryland Institute of Art and the Boston Museum School. He currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

After finishing his studies, Gorman moved to New Mexico, where he designed and built custom furniture. Eventually leaving the studio behind, he started working in art galleries, and became director of the Horwitch LewAllen Gallery, one of the largest contemporary art galleries in the Western United States. He left that job to become the executive director of the estate of Allan Houser, a renowned Native American sculptor. During his time with the Houser estate, he traveled to Germany to set up a traveling museum exhibition of the artist’s bronze sculptures.

Seven years ago, Gorman started GG+A, a consulting and career development firm that has worked with artists, museums, and arts organizations both in the United States and Europe. Gorman has designed several innovative one and two day workshops which teach artists how to take control of their art careers by focusing in on effective marketing strategies for their art work.

Geoffrey currently writes for ArtCalendar, The Artist’s Magazine, and has a monthly column called ArtMatters in The Pastel Journal, and provides content for a variety of newsletters and online publications including www.wwar.com. His web site is featured in the July issue of The Artist's Magazine.
