Biography:
Authorities are returning 135 drawings by Dutch, Italian and German masters to the heirs of Arthur Feldmann, a Czech Jew whose collection was stolen by the Nazis, a museum official said Thursday. The drawings from the 16th to the 18th centuries were handed last month to Anne Webber of the London-based Commission for Looted Art in Europe, said Andrea Polackova of the Moravian Gallery in Brno where the drawings had been located. The commission has been representing heirs in Israel, who wished to remain anonymous, she said. Polackova said the museum has formally handed over the drawing to Webber but they remain in the Czech Republic pending the granting of an export license.
