Biography:
Orphaned by his silversmith father in 1540, Alessandro Allori’s family was adopted by the painter Agnolo Bronzini. Allori spent some time in Rome, influenced by the work of Michelangelo, before returning to Florence and painting for the Medici family. He was made the director of the Florentine tapestry factory in the mid-1570’s. Allori’s work was executed in the Mannerist style and influence many later generations of Florentine artists.
