Biography: After moving to Gubbio, Italy around 1490, Giorgio di Pietro Andreoli founded and directed his own maiolica workshop. His talent was renowned and he was commissioned to embellish the work of other artists with his skillful and difficult luster technique. Andreoli was granted citizenship by the Duke of Urbino and was exempt from taxes and any civil duties.
