Biography:
A prolific vase painter from 530 to 510 B.C., the Antimenes painter was a master of the black-figure technique. Although the red-figure technique was on the rise, he produced more than 140 amphorae and hydriai vases in his original manner. The Antimenes painter often produced scenes of the Greek hero, Herakles.
