Biography:
Named the Bedford Master for his work commissioned by John, the Duke of Bedford, the artists real identity is unknown. One of the illuminators who worked in his shop from 1422 to 1435 must have been given the title as the Chief Associate of the Bedford Master. His style of illuminating is identifiable by its soft modeling, pale palette, and restricted use of gold to highlight forms.
