Biography:
Giovanni Boldini was an Italian portrait painter, known mostly for his paintings of women. Although he was internationally recognized, he settled in Paris in 1871. He and Antonio Mancini were the best-known Italian painters at the beginning of the 20th century. In addition to portraiture, Boldini also created scenes of Parisian city life. Although there is a museum in his honor in his hometown of Ferrara, his work lost its appeal after his death in 1931.
