Biography: A prolific illuminated manuscript artist, the Boucicaut Master was a very influential figure in northern Europe from 1400 to 1450. He was the supervisor of many artists who produced manuscripts for the king of France, aristocrats, and the wealthy upper class. Although his real name is unknown, the pseudonym Boucicaut derives from his work on a book of hours made for Jean le Meingre II, the Marechal de Boucicaut.
