Biography: Elizabeth Butler’s career as a painter reached its height in the 1870’s. Her military scenes were popular because of their underlying patriotism. Her best-known work is the painting titled Scotland for Ever! Which depicted the charge of the Royal Scots Greys at the Battle of Waterloo. She continued to paint for the remainder of his life, her final works based on the events of World War I.
