Biography:
Born into a family of artist, Annibale Carracci was taught and influenced by brother, Agostino and cousin, Ludovico. He also admired the work of Correggio and Raphael. Carracci, his brother and cousin started a painting academy in Bologna in 1585, training many future Baroque painters. Carracci was commissioned to decorate the palace of Cardinal Farnese in 1595, producing a well-known series of mythological frescoes. In his paintings, Carracci combined classicism with naturalism, putting religious figures in idealized landscapes.
