Biography: Also known as Cavaliere d'Arpino, Giuseppe Cesari worked mainly in Rome where he gained a highly respected position as a painter. He was granted numerous important commissions, including the mosaics for St. Peter's dome. In addition to frescoes, he also produced a number of religious and mythological cabinet paintings.
