Biography:
Robert Colquhoun studied at the Glascow School of Art from 1933 to 1938. While in school, he met companion Robert MacBryde and the couple settled in London in 1941. During World War II, Colquhoun was employed as an ambulance driver and worked on his paintings at night. By 1943, he had become a central figure in British painting.
