Biography:
Born in Milan, Daniele Crespi was an active painter at the height of the Counter-Reformation. He created a large output of work but his most famous painter, St. Charles Borromeo at Supper, was a simple piece that adhered to the ideals of painting set by the Council of Trent. It also was a landmark piece in the transition between the Mannerism and Baroque periods. Crespi died young from the plague at the age of thirty-three.
