Biography: Walter De Maria was an early founder of Minimalism, using the movement simplistic approach in his sculpture and experimental art. His earliest work in this fashion was produced in 1960 before there was a recognized term form the movement. De Maria also was one of the first artists to explore Land Art, although much of this work is borderline Conceptualism.
