Biography:
Joachim Dietrich was the son of a cabinetmaker who trained as a sculptor. After traveleing throughout Prague and Italy as a journeyman, he settled near Munich and worked for Johann Pichler, the court joiner. He created sculptures for religious and government buldings. He also collaborated with Francois de Cuvillies and helped complete commissions for the decoration of rooms for the Munich court and noblemen’s homes. Dietrich was appointed court sculptor in 1736.
