Biography: Georg Raphael Donner was a celebrated Austrian sculptor who spent most of his career working in Salzburg, Bratislava, and Vienna during the Baroque period. His most revered works are the figures from the fountain in Mehlmarkt, Vienna and group sculpture, St. Martin and the Beggar. Donner worked in lead, and was recognized for his smooth surfaces. His sculptures were sometimes considered Neo-classicist, but his elongated style of figuring lends more to Mannerism.
