Biography:
Gaspard Dughet was born in Rome where he spent most of his life and career, never having left Italy in his lifetime. Despite this, he was considered to be a member of the French School because from 1613 to 1635, his brother-in-law, Nicolas Poussin, taught him. His work closely resembles that of his teacher, but differs in its more romantic style.
