Biography:
Augustus Egg was an English painter specializing in historical and literary themes. He was also a friend of Charles Dickens and an actor. After encountering the work of the Pre-Raphaelites, his work took on moral subject matters, an example of which was his series titled Past and Present that depicted the act of adultery.
