Biography: Epiktetos lived and worked in Athens from 520 to 490 B.C. and worked in the red-figure technique. He specialized in decorating cups but also painted other shapes. He has been credited with over a hundred vases and has signed nearly half of them. Epiktetos worked for several potters, including Hischylos, Nikosthenes, and Pamphaios. He favored scenes of Dionysus and daily Greek life. He was a slave at the beginning of his career before he established his reputation as a talented painter.
