Biography: Euphronios lived in Athens from about 520 to 470 B.C. where he was a potter and a vase-painter who worked in the red-figure technique. He was one of the founding Athenian vase-painters, a group called the Pioneers by scholars. Euphronios was interested in the human body and played with overlapping and foreshortening in his paintings. Later in his career, he worked alongside some of the greatest vase-painters of his time including Douris, Makron, and Onesmios.
