Biography:
Paolo Farinati studied under a local painter in his native city Verona. He worked there until 1552 when he was offered a commission to work at the Mantua Cathedral. While working on this project, Farinati was influenced by Giulio Romano’s complex frescoes, Paolo Veronese’s chiaroscuro, and Michelangelo’s anatomy. Farinati kept a detailed journal of his life and work from 1573 until his death.
