Biography: Born in Piedmont, Gaudenzio Ferrari spent much of his painting and sculpting career working there and in Lombardy. He was strongly influenced by Leonardo da Vinci and others but managed to retain an individualistic approach to his artwork. Some of his best works are in a series entitled Stations of the Cross, located at the Sanctuary of Sacro Monte in Varallo.
