Biography:
Copley Fielding was the most famous member of a family of artists. He studied under Varley and married his mentor’s sister-in-law in 1813. He painted in watercolors, using the scenery of Wales and the Lake District for inspiration early in his career. After he moved to the south coast in 1817, Fielding turned to seascapes.
