Biography:
Philip Fruytiers first studied humanities at the Jesuit College in Antwerp. He enrolled in the painter’s guild as a master at the age of twenty-one. His portraits were very popular during his lifetime and collected by many, including Peter Paul Rubens. Anthony Van Dyck influenced his portraits and altarpieces. Fruytiers also produced etchings.
