Biography:
Giulio Campi discovered Lattanzio Gambara in 1545, who took him to Cremona and trained him in the Mannerist style. Gambara returned to Brescia in 1549 and worked for the city’s leading painter and married his daughter in 1556. He was the leading painter there following his teacher’s death and then lived in Parma from 1567 to 1573. He worked on the Parma Cathedral with Bernardino Gatti. After returning to Brescia, Gambara died from a fall from the scaffolding in the church.
