Biography: Gentile Da Fabriano worked as a painter throughout Italy before settling in Rome in 1419. Only a few of his large religious paintings created during this period survived. Under the patronage of Palla Strozzi in Florence, Gentile painted many great works, including an altarpiece for the church of the Holy Trinity that illustrated the Adoration of the Magi. This piece is thought to be Gentile Da Fabriano’s greatest work and representative of the Italian Renaissance.
