Biography: Although the details of Giotto’s life are unknown, he is renowned as one of the founders of the Italian Renaissance. Abandoning the monotonous style of Byzantine Art, Giotto explored his own interests in his work, including religious narrative and human psychology. Technically, his talent was in accuracy of form and simplistic yet allegorical composition. Giotto’s most famous works are the frescoes in the Arena Chapel in Padua.
