Biography:
Francesco Guardi’s use of color and lighting in his paintings suggest that Canaletto taught him his techniques. Guardi painted landscapes, architecture, and interiors in large dimensions. A forerunner of Turner, he abandoned the strict calculations of Canaletto’s work and painted in a more impressionistic style. He also collaborated with his brother Giovanni on several religious pieces.
