Biography:
The first record of Guariento di Arpo shows that he taught painting in Padua, Italy in 1338. He painted an enormous fresco of Paradise in the Ducal Palace in 1366 for the ruler of Venice. He also painted altarpieces and frescoes for churches, and small devotional paintings. Guariento combined realistic figures with dramatic narrative in order to convey strong human emotion in his paintings.
