Biography:
Born in Amsterdam, Jan Hackaert worked mostly in his hometown painting Italian landscapes and forest scenes. In the 1650’s, he traveled in Switzerland. Although he mastered the art of painting Italian sunlight, there is no documentation to suggest he visited the country.
