Biography: Robert Henri studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and later the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. He returned to the states in 1886 and taught at the Women’s School of Design in Philadelphia and then the Art Students’ League in New York. In 1908 he founded The Eight, an art school in New York, where he taught future American artists his realist ideas and techniques.
