Biography:
The Inscription Painter worked in the black-figure technique and founded the Chalkidian School. He painted large vases such as the amphorai, hydriai, and kraters. He worked in Rhegion in South Italy but his painting shows the styles of Athens, Corinth, and East Greece. He received his name for the inscriptions he used to identify figures on his vases.
