Biography: Born in Holland, Barend Cornelius Koekkoek hailed from a family of artists. He spent most of his career in Germany where he was inspired by the mountainous landscapes. His Romantic paintings often depict these scenes in great detail with a soft lighting. His work was popular during his lifetime.
