Biography:
Maxime Lalanne was most known for his etchings that contained political statements. He helped found a society of etchers in 1862, and was a frequent contributor to the organization’s journals and print series. He also created landscape and cityscape studies in his drawings. His primary source of income was creating prints after contemporary paintings that were then published in French art journals. Lalanne also published two documents of his own, instruction manuals on etching and sketching done in 1866 and 1869 respectively.
