Biography:
Henry Lamb began studying medicine under the encouragement of his parents but left school in 1904 to study art. Then with the outbreak of World War I, he returned to medicine, serving as a medic in France, Macedonia, and Palestine. He also worked as an Official War Artist in the First and the Second World Wars. Lamb was known as a portraitist and also was a member of the Bloomsbury Group. He painted the members of the group in a Post-Impressionist style, and these paintings were some of his most famous works. He is also remembered for his portrait of Lytton Strachey. Lamb also painted landscapes and still-lifes.
