Biography:
Francois Lemoyne developed his appreciated style of painting by studying the works of Rubens and 17th century Bolognese artists. He eventually became a leading decorative painter and was employed by the court of Louis XV in 1736 as the official court painter. Despite the beauty and lightheartedness of his artwork, Lemoyne suffered from mental illness. He took his own life in 1737, several hours after finishing his painting, Time Revealing Truth.
