Biography: Canadian born, Percy Wyndham Lewis, moved to England with his mother in 1892 where he studied at the Slade School of Art. In 1911, he studied with the avant-garde Camden Group in London and the Omega Workshops in 1917. His Vorticist Manifesto was published in the magazine published by the Omega Workshops, title Blast, in 1914. Lewis served as a British war artist in World War I, and incorporated his Vorticist concepts to his military service. Although blind in his old age, Lewis continued to teach and write.
