Biography: Leonard Limosin was born in Limoges, a French city famous for its enamelers and goldsmiths. Probably learning his craft in a local workshop, he was then encouraged by the Bishop of Limoges to paint enamels in copper in plates, plagues, tableware, and jewelry boxes. In 1548, Limosin was appointer Enameler to the King. In addition, he was also a printmaker and painter.
