Biography:
Born in Germany, Johannes Lingelbach was raised in Amsterdam and began training there at the age of twelve. He spent three years in Italy and absorbed the styles of the country. He was in Rome from 1647 to 1650 and returned to Amsterdam around 1653 where he remained for the rest of his life. Lingelbach was known for large crowded scenes of Italian streets and city life.
