Biography: Lorenzo di Credi was a goldsmith’s son and entered the studio of Andrea del Verrocchio in 1476. He painted small Virgin and Child panels and collaborated with Leonardo da Vinci. Verrocchio moved to Venice in 1480 and Lorenzo was appointed chief assistant. Then, upon the master’s death in 1488, he inherited complete control over the workshop.
