Biography: Carlo Maratti moved to Rome at the age of twelve and studied extensively as a child. In 1650, he created a successful altarpiece and established a solid reputation. In addition to altarpieces, he also painted portrats, frescoes, and created sculptures. Maratti eventually became the president of the Accademia di San Luca.
