Biography: The Master of Brussels Initials began working in the late fourteenth century in a workshop in Bologna. He developed a successful career there before moving to the Ile-de-France. He worked in the International Style, blending both Italian and French influences. His name comes from a book of hours commissioned by Jean, duc de Berry in which he painted fifteen initials.
