Biography: Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer was a painter who specialized in the floral genre and worked at Versailles and the other palaces of King Louis XIV of France. He also designed flowers and fruits for the borders of the tapestries produced at the Gobelins and Beauvais manufactories. Monnoyer moved to England in 1690 and died there in 1699.
