Biography: Luis de Morales worked out of a small town, Badajoz located next to the border of Spain and Portugal. Far away from any other artistic influence, he developed a unique approach to painting. He often painted on a small scale and depicted religious subjects. He was nicknamed ‘El Divino’ because of the intense spirituality in his work.
