Biography:
Josef Myslbek was the main Czech sculptor of his period. He was commissioned to create monuments to many national heroes in Prague. The most notable of these is the St Wenceslas Monument, which was began in 1887 but not completed until a year after Myslbek’s death in 1923. His sculpture was created in the Renaissance tradition and was admired by Rodin.
