The Danube School encompasses a group of German and Austrian artists working in and around Danube, Germany in the early 16th century. The town became an artistic center because of its location between Nuremberg, Augsberg, and Vienna. The school’s principle artists were Lucas Cranach the Elder, Albrecht Altdorfer, and Wolfgang Huber, all of whom were devoted to painting the area’s beautiful landscapes.
