Biography: Nikothenes Painter worked in Athens in the red-figure technique where he painted mostly cups. He is not known for being an outstanding artist as his work was often produced hastily. He preferred to paint scenes of athletes, warriors, and Dionysus. His name is taken from the signature of the potter, Nikothenes that appeared on several of his vases.
