Biography: Fra Paolino was initially taught by his father and then worked under Fra Bartolommeo. He became a Dominican monk and was living in Florence at the convent of San Marco by 1513. His first painting was done in 1516 and was a Cruxifiction fresco. Inspired by Fra Bartolommeo’s classicism, Fra Paolino began studying and copying his drawings after his death in 1517. He moved to Pistoia in the late 1520’s and painted altarpieces
