Biography: Giambattista Pittoni created religious, historical and mythological works that were influenced by Tiepolo. He became the president of the Venetian Academy in 1758. Although it is thought that Pittoni never left Italy, Swedish, German, and Austrian courts commissioned him. Pittoni also painted numerous altarpieces for Italian churches.
