Biography:
Jan Provost settled in Bruges in 1914 and worked mostly from his studio there. It is thought that he studied under Marmion and married his widow after his death in 1489. His style was similar to Gerard David’s, who the leading painter in Bruges. Also when Durer visited Bruges in 1521, he was a guest at the Provost residence.
